Allies in Action

Code of Conduct

Allies in Action exists to advance the full humanity of every individual regardless of race, gender, country of origin, sexual orientation, disability, appearance and age. Understanding the very nature of our work rests on respect for other human beings, we hold ourselves to clear standards of behavior and communication.

During our virtual gatherings we ask all Allies, panelists, presenters and guests to:

  • Exercise consideration and respect in speech and actions;

  • Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior and speech; and

  • Be mindful of your surroundings and thoughtful of your fellow participants.

We hold as unacceptable:

  • Comments, messages, or images that express a negative view with respect to, mock, or make the subject of ridicule or condemnation gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, age or national origin;

  • Inappropriate use of nudity and/or sexual images, as well as threatening, bullying or intimidation, including activity-related communication channels;

  • Disruption of presentations or other activities offered in a virtual setting;

  • Display of promotional materials, special offers, job offers, product announcement, or solicitation for services unless pre-authorized by Allies in Action;

  • Promoting partisan initiatives or individual candidates for elected office; and

  • Copying or taking screen shots of Q&A or any chat room activity that takes place in the virtual space unless permitted by the session moderator.

If a person displays inappropriate behavior during a session, the leadership of Allies will mute the speaker or log them out of the session. Any members asked to leave a virtual session due to inappropriate or violent behavior will be subject to a review by Allies leadership to determine their continued participation in the group. We reserve the right to revoke membership status with no financial reimbursement and will block future participation in Allies gatherings.
